AbstractOne of the premises for precision farming is the yield optimization and its costs, and the minimum application of chemical product in order to minimize environmental impacts. Therefore, it is necessary to manage spatial variability on the field through the determination of spatial referenced information, as well as determining nutrients related to soil fertility. This paper aims at correlating corn yield data with soil chemical parameters analyzed by geostatistics, and the results indicated low correlation; corn yield data were obtained from an agricultural land used for experimental studies, which is ESALQs property in Pirassununga city, São Paulo State, Brazil. Furthermore, with the intention of evaluating the feasibility of using the software SPRING a geographic information system for producing manuring maps for variable rate application (VRT; Variable-Rate Treatment), some maps were produced for recommending manure/fertilizer application in sowing and in coverage, for corn crops. SPRING software seems to be of high potential applicability involving GIS use in Precision Farming.
